Beauty Benefits

Ultra-hydrated and nourished skin with SPF50 protection. Anti-ageing actions through collagen-supporting ingredients.
Botanical Actives
Zinc Oxide is a natural, physical sunscreen which creates a layer on top of skin that blocks ultraviolet rays like UVA1, UVA2 and UVB. It is stable in chlorine and will not degrade to cause harmful free radicals, skin irritation or hormone disruption. This is as opposed to chemical SPFs which absorb them before they can cause any harm. Zinc Oxide helps to keep moisture locked into the skin.

Camellia Seed Oil provides exceptional hydration without greasiness. It is abundant in vitamins C, D, and E along with Omega 6 and 9 and anti-ageing polyphenols, which provide deep nourishment to your skin, youth-preserving actions and a velvety smooth finish.

Vitamin E One of the key antioxidants when it comes to sun protection, Vitamin E works to neutralise free radicals caused by exposure to UV light and other collagen-damaging molecules. It also assists in absorbing UVB light, the spectrum of sunlight that’s responsible for burning and ageing skin.

Kakadu Plum Extract Kakadu Plum is native to Australia and known for being the highest plant-based source of Vitamin C. This makes this wild-harvested botanical exceptional for boosting collagen production, combating free radical damage and providing photo-protection from UV A and B damaging light.

Rosehip Seed Oil is one of the richest plant-based sources of beta-carotene, a precursor to Vitamin A and our skin’s natural battalion when it comes to fighting the signs of ageing. Considered a cellular regenerative oil, Rosehip is known for its ability to enhance skin repair and reduce inflammation.

Zinc Oxide 225mg/g, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate (derived from Coconut Oil), Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate (vegetable based emulsifier),  Isostearic Acid (Fatty Acid), Medium Chain Triglycerides, Castor Oil, Candelilla Wax, Coconut Oil, dl-alpha Tocopherol Acetate (vitamin E), Rosa Canina (Rosehip Oil), Lemon Oil Terpeneless, Camellia Oleifera (Camellia) Seed Oil, Terminalia Ferdinandiana (Kakadu Plum) Fruit Extract.

How does zinc oxide protect skin from the sun?
Zinc oxide works as a physical sunscreen. Upon application, zinc oxide particles sit on the outermost layer of your skin, the stratum corneum, where they scatter, absorb, and reflect ultraviolet radiation to protect the skin from UVA and UVB light.

Do you use nano-particles zinc in your sunscreen?
We have chosen the highest quality zinc oxide that we have been able to source for our sunscreen. We use microfine or micronised particles in our sunscreen. Microfine particles are smaller than those used in conventional white zinc sunscreens, however are larger than nano-particles- usually in the range of 100 to 2500 nanometres. Note that nano particles are smaller than 100 nanometres. We do not use nano particles in the sunscreen.

How does the texture, look and feel differ from a conventional chemical sunscreen formula?

A natural sunscreen formula needs to create a physical barrier on the skin to protect it from the sun's UV rays. This is why it needs to be slightly thicker than a conventional chemical sunscreen does, as chemical formulas utilise very small particles that absorb into the skin. Although these chemical SPFs may seem to have benefits in terms of texture or absorption, the damaging effects of the toxic ingredients alone are worth making the switch to a natural SPF option.

Basking Beauty is oil based which means we do not need to include a preservative in it. This does make it slightly more "oily" than chemical sunscreens, which can contain harsh preservatives, however as far as natural sunscreens go, Basking Beauty is "non-greasy" after it has been properly applied and blended into the skin.

Is your sunscreen water resistant?
Yes, it is water resistant for 4 hours. We do encourage you to reapply it frequently after swimming or sweating.

Will this sunscreen clog my pores?
No. This formula uses micronised zinc oxide along with fractionated coconut oil and the carrier oil Camellia Seed Oil which all work to ensure the formula absorbs well into the skin preventing breakouts and the clogging of pores.

I am experiencing a white residue after application, what can I do?

Thank you for your feedback. We have a few tips which will be able to assist with ensuring you do not get a white residue after application.

Firstly, ensure you use a very small amount - as a guide, a pea size provides enough coverage for your whole face! This will ensure it absorbs well into the skin.
Please also be conscious of not using any other 'thick' products on your skin prior to using the sunscreen, as this will prevent absorption.

Please remember that this product is a natural sunscreen with pure zinc as the active ingredient. It therefore does differ in general to the texture that people may be used to when they have been using chemical sunscreens.
